Citizen Centred Justice Legal ClinicThe Citizen Centred Justice Legal Clinic (CCJ) is a not-for-profit health-justice partnership, legal practice, and registered association which operates on-campus in collaboration with the Pվ��Ƶ Medical and Counselling Centre (Pվ��ƵM&CC). CCJ provides pro bono legal support, assistance, advocacy, and referral services for clients referred from the Pվ��ƵM&CC, Pվ��Ƶ students and Pվ��Ƶ staff,  as well as on an ad hoc basis to other vulnerable clients who may be referred to the Clinic from other sources. CCJ is run by lawyers supported by Pվ��Ƶ law students who are gaining legal practice experience towards their legal qualification. The service is a free and confidential legal service.CCJ is a by-appointment legal advice clinic located on the Bruce campus of the Pվ��Ƶ. It is open for appointments on Wednesdays. CCJ is located in Building 1, Level B, adjacent to the Pվ��Ƶ Medical & Counselling Centre. You can book a face-to-face or telephone appointment through the University's Medical & Counselling Centre by telephoning 02 6201 2351. When booking, let our receptionist staff know if you prefer a face-to-face or telephone appointment. Bookings need to be made by telephone, not by direct email to the CCJ. When you arrive for your appointment, you will need to check-in at the Pվ��ƵM&CC and complete some paperwork.

Grab your running shoes and join us every Thursday morning for a run, jog or walk by the lake, followed by free coffee and chats!Running for Resilience (R4R) was started by Matt Breen 10 years after his father's suicide, with the goal of saving one life. It began as a one-off run from The Dock, aiming to bring people together to support each other and promote mental health through exercise.R4R has now grown into four weekly events attended by over 500 runners and walkers. R4R's mission is to make the ACT suicide-free by 2033, by making it easier for people to exercise with friends and build strong, supportive communities.R4R-Pվ��Ƶ kicks off every Thursday at 8.30am from The Coffee Grounds Pվ��Ƶ for a 3km walk or 5-6km jog.

Pվ��Ƶ Medical & Counselling's Bystander Intervention training explores how challenging situations can affect perception and decision-making, and provides techniques for taking clear action under pressure. Presented by psychologists from the Pվ��Ƶ Medical & Counselling Centre, this training identifies safe and effective strategies in common bystander situations, including discrimination, bullying, sexual assault, harassment, intimate partner violence, mental health issues, and harmful use of drugs and alcohol. 

Do you find partaking in cardio hard or you make excuses in avoiding it, but you know that you should be doing some cardio? Consisting of the Cardio equipment in the Gym, combined with various body weight and free weights exercises. Our instructor will motivate you to push to your limits! International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) aims to increase public awareness, understanding and recognition of people with disability and celebrate their achievements and contributions to our communities, workplaces and educational institutions. It is also a time to reflect on the everyday experiences and challenges faced by people with disability.  IDPwD is officially celebrated on 3 December. At Pվ��Ƶ, we will be celebrating early (before the end of the semester) on Tuesday 15 October, to ensure maximum participation. This year, the InclusionPվ��Ƶ team will host a free BBQ for staff and students on the concourse.

Sometimes it is hard to meet new people, or to find opportunities to practice speaking in English. We wanted to provide a chance to help you with this. Our English Conversation Club is an informal time, not a structured class. In a small group we talk about a different topic each meeting, with a native English speaker. Improve your English by practicing your speaking and listening, and make some new friends along the way! Anyone is welcome join this activity! The English Conversation Club is a free activity especially for international students or visiting scholars from overseas. Pվ��Ƶ Medical and Counselling is providing training for currently accredited Mental Health First Aiders to stay up to date with mental health first aid knowledge, skills and information. You are eligible for a refresher course if you have been accredited as a Mental Health First Aider within the last three years.PLEASE NOTE: - This course is offered to Pվ��Ƶ Staff only for a discounted fee of $150, charged to your department's cost centre. Please ensure you have cost centre information, and written management approval, before registering.- You must have completed the Mental Health First Aid training within the past three years to complete the refresher courseMental Health First Aiders will receive a reminder a few months before their accreditation expires to let them know when they are due to complete an MHFA Refresher Course. Accreditation can be renewed by completing a MHFA Refresher Course prior to to the accreditation expiry date, which adds a further three years to an accreditation date.Course participants learn about the latest research in the mental health field, work through complex mental health first aid interactions, and practice their mental health first aid skills across a range of mental health problems and mental health crisis situations.Participants can complete a short assessment at the end of a course to extend your Mental Health First Aid Accreditation. Three years after completing a Refresher Course such as this, Mental Health First Aiders will need to attend a full 12- or 14-hour MHFA course in order to maintain their accreditation.

Take a well-deserved break away from it all. Come down to the coast (camping at either Saltwater Creek Campground or Little Beach Campground) to celebrate the end of the uni year or your degree. This long weekend trip (24-27 October) doesn’t have much of an agenda except to provide some well-needed rejuvenation from a hectic year!  Both of the campsites are right near the beach and provide many different areas for swimming, hiking, snorkelling, and surfing. There are many opportunities for various activities it’s all up to you.  We are waiting till availability opens up but will be booking a campsite at either Saltwater Creek Campground or Little Beach Campground for the whole time (24-27 October), and it is up to you how long you join. We need to know if you’re coming to see if we need to book more space. Abstract: Barangaroo, a 22-hectare waterfront redevelopment precinct in Sydney, is emerging as a new icon of the city and the nation. As the last and largest redevelopment project of global significance in a major Australian city, Barangaroo is reshaping the Sydney CBD—the prime engine of the national economy and a strategic node of the global economy. However, the project’s journey has been fluctuated with complexities, changes, and conflicts. In this talk, I will trace the two-decade-long evolution of Barangaroo, revealing how a redevelopment project has become a battleground of competing interests—involving power, politics, and multiple stakeholders—and how these factors have impacted its process, delivery, and outcomes. Drawing from the Barangaroo experience, I will highlight critical lessons for megaproject management, particularly in strategic planning and balancing public and private interests.  Bio: Professor Richard Hu is an urban planner and a megaproject manager. His practice, research, and consultancy are diverse and international. He has collaborated with three tiers of Australian government and the World Bank on urban development issues. He is the co-author of Crafting Innovative Places for Australia’s Knowledge Economy and his forthcoming book is The Australian City.

TCF YOUTH MENTOR PROGRAM was designed for all young people who want to become the best version of themselves. For 20 weeks our mentors work with program participants to develop their mental and physical fitness in the lead up to an incredible final trekking experience. The final trek is what brings the process to life - providing a safe setting to face an obstacle that requires days of ongoing effort, with no option to quit when it gets too hard. The Pվ��Ƶ Medical & Counselling Centre is offering FREE Mental Health First Aid training to Pվ��Ƶ students.Led by a Licensed Instructor, Mental Health First Aid is a practical, skills-based education program that equips people with the skills and confidence needed to recognise and respond to someone experiencing a mental health problem or crisis. Grounded in research and guided by the voice of lived experience, this course provides high-quality, safe and proven mental health first aid literacy and skills training to strengthen the support available to all Australians.

This is a good way to meet some like-minded outdoorsy people in Canberra.  The bouldering starts at Mountain Strong (66-68 Townsville St, Fyshwick ACT 2609) at 5 pm. Then we will head to Captial Brewing Co. (Building 3/1 Dairy Rd, Fyshwick ACT 2609) for a bevvy and some food. There will most likely be someone in their Pվ��ƵOC shirt to identify who is with the club easily.  If you can’t make it at 5 pm, we will be bouldering until about 6-6.30 pm, so please feel free to join us later.  The bouldering and beers/burgers are at your own expense.  Entry to Mountain Strong is $13 for club members, which covers entry and shoe hirer. For non-members, it is $16.  On Friday, 9 February, the first 20 people will have free entry to Mountain Strong. You will need to pay the entry fee if you are not one of the 20 people.  We head to Moutain Strong on the first Friday of most months. All the dates are listed below. The fact that medical professionals are increasingly doing so in a range of countries provides the context for this two-day event. Could this be a case where Western medicine is catching up with practices First Nations communities have enacted for millennia? The Indigenous Higher Education Curriculum Conference will be a three-day conference held at the Pվ��Ƶ from Monday 25 to Wednesday 27 November 2024. There will be a unique On-Country Experience on Monday 25 November, and optional specialised and applied professional development workshops on Thursday 28 November.The Indigenous Higher Education Curriculum Conference was started by UTS in 2022 and is now supported by an International Indigenous Curriculum Community of Practice. The purpose of the conference is to highlight that Australian universities are progressively embedding Indigenous perspectives into higher education curriculum to provide students with Indigenous graduate attributes to work with and for Indigenous Australians across their chosen professions.
